Occasionally we come across a short film we just have to share. And this is one of those times.
A Crimson Man is a steampunk short film, that tells the tale of a young slave trying to reunite with his father in a war torn land. On his journey he meets a battle robot. Predictably, they form an unlikely alliance.
What’s less predictable is the overall excellence of the twenty minute film. The cinematography gives the film a washed out, broken down aesthetic that tells it’s own story. The robot itself comes across as a fascinating character despite the short amount of screen time. It’s a damaged creature, both emotionally and physically. It has a haunting voice that speaks to a sad past it can’t escape. So, all in all, there’s a lot going on considering it’s a steampunk robot.
