What we’ve learned about the TV adaptation of Good Omens

We’re very excited by the adaptation of Good Omens, due in 2018.

Below are the key facts about the show, which we’ll update the more information we get.

What is it?

Good Omens is based on a novel by the incomparable Terry Pratchett and his longtime friend, and genius fantasy writer, Neil Gaiman. The novel is a comedy that follows an angel and a demon as they try to prevent the apocalypse.

The Good Omens Cast

David Tennant as Crowley, a demon who slid downwards rather than ‘fell’. Expect Tennant to bring a quirky edge to a character that will be full of acerbic wit.

Michael Sheen as the angel, Aziraphale. An angel whose got a bit too comfortable on earth and doesn’t fancy standing by and watching the end of days unfold.

John Hamm will be playing the Arch-Angel Gabriel. Hamm’s Gabriel will have a much larger part than in the novel. Gaiman has said he will be the good-looking, charming charismatic angel than Sheen’s more ‘homely’ Aziraphale.

Miranda Richardson is playing Madame Tracy, a physic, and courtesan who helps the angel-demon duo.

Jack Whitehall will geek it up as the witchfinder Newt Pulcifer.

British star of stage and screen Anna Maxwell Martin will play the devil herself.

The witch Anathema Device will be played by South American actress Adria Arjona.

The horsemen of the apocalypse will be played by Mireille Enos as War, Lourdes Faberes as Pollution, and Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals) as Famine

Nina Sosanya, famous for many roles including a turn in Doctor Who, will be playing Sister Mary Loquacious

Whose writing it?

Niall Gaiman of course! Gaiman is honoring his friend Terry Pratchett by writing all the scripts for the show and acting as showrunner.
